A box in the middle of the CMS 1500 form tells more of a story than most realize. Box 14 should correlate with the first time you saw this person for THIS episode of care. Do you find yourself forgetting to change box 14? Have you ever changed box 14? Let’s learn when and why to change box 14 while considering certain situations when you do not use the first treatment date of THIS episode of care. Don’t let that one little box in the middle of the form set you up for a significant issue. It is only eight numbers, but those eight numbers come with a hefty cost if not managed appropriately. Give us a call and let us know how old your Box 14 is on the CMS 1500 form. You can reach us at (855) 832-6562.
