An Important Message from Kathy (KMC)
In reviewing yesterday’s webinar recording, and the questions that came in, I clearly misspoke.

At approximately the 7-minute-mark in the recording, I said that Good Faith Estimates are ONLY required when a patient is using their insurance. Of course, we all know the opposite of that is true!!   SORRY!!!

To clarify, I have no idea why that came out of my mouth, and it certainly wasn’t to mislead you, but rest assured:

  • When dealing with patients, and especially new patients, we do need to ask this question:  “Do you have some type of insurance that you’d like our assistance with filing for you?”  If they answer NO, you must then ask:
    • Would you like a good faith estimate of your out-of-pocket costs today?
    • If yes, you must offer a Good Faith Estimate, according to the rules.
