Facts to Consider:
- Because Medicare is a federal program, special care must be exercised to manage it carefully within the practice.
- Participation in the Medicare program has nothing to do with Medicare enrollment. All chiropractors that treat Medicare patients must be enrolled in the Medicare program.
- Participation status is a choice that providers make, and is a highly personal decision, but it should be noted that all the regulations associated with Medicare apply regardless of status.
- Part B Medicare is the most common, but many seniors are opting for a Managed Care Medicare plan, known as Medicare Part C, or Medicare Advantage.
- Federal law prohibits Medicare providers from billing people enrolled in the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program for any Medicare cost-sharing.
Don’t Forget!! The use of the renewed ABN form with the expiration date of 01/31/2026 will be mandatory on 6/30/23. |
